Eads Wrestlers Split Home Tri, Place 5 at Wiggins

Eads lost their first dual of the year to the Holly Wildcats, 27-40 but came out on top of the Stratton Eagles, 25-18. Hunter Uhland was out due to an injury and again Eads’ "juggled" a few weights for some tough competition.

At 275 (Hwt) Jacob Kraft has been showing some improvement. As a freshman, it is always tough to wrestle in the middle to upper weights because usually your opponents are upper classmen, but Jacob has been determined to stay right in there and never backs down. He has some quickness and good coordination that he will be able to continue to build on as he gains experience. One of the highlights of Thursday night’s matches was when Jacob pinned RJ Brian from Holly in the second period. Jacob quickly had a real nice takedown in the first but Brian continued to fight for and got the reversal which tied the score at 2. A reversal and some nearfall points had Jacob up 6-3 at the end of the first. Jacob started down in the second and quickly had a reversal and Brian on his back for the pin. By default, Jacob received 1^st at 275 at the Wiggins tournament but wrestled in the 215 weight bracket for competition. He only won one match for the day but did it with certainty in :58 off of another impressive takedown and then got the head and arm.

Eads will next see action this Saturday in Strasburg before heading to Fowler the 27^th for a dual.
