Eagle Grapplers Place 5^th with 5 Individual Placers

The Eads wrestlers had a very good tournament in Akron placing 5^th as a team out of a field of 12. Throughout the year, Eads, a 1A school will compete against many 2A, 3A and 4A schools and will be in the same classification with 2A schools at Regionals and State. As a team, it is tough to compete for top placing with many teams not only because they are from bigger schools but also because these teams can field, in most cases, full teams with all 14-weight classes. This tournament was no exception as Eads competed against 3A schools such as Brush, Yuma, Erie, Eaton, Highland and Strasburg. Some individual brackets were tough as well as Hunter Uhland had 4 state placers in his weight.

Kelly Lindholm wrestled at 171 lbs. for the day and handled 2 of 4 of his opponents with pins. The championship round was a little closer but Lindholm decisioned Steven Hornung from Stratton with a 9-5 win for first place his first tournament as a senior.

The only other senior on the team, Josh Fry, was out this week due to a knee injury but expects to be back in action this Saturday for the Ray Rhoades Classic in Burlington.
