4 H Council Report

On November 29, 2004 the Kiowa
County 4-H Council met in the courthouse meeting room at 7:01 p.m. The
attendance was read by our Secretary Dally Lessenden. Those present were
President Lana Weber; Milly Spady Vice President and Senator; Dally
Lessenden, Secretary; Shalyn Laird, Treasurer; Carrie Roberson, Reporter;
Jessica James, Dawn James, Leader Advisor. We had only one absence which
our other Leader Advisor Brenda Fickenscher. Each club had four members
and adults present.
Next, Dally read the minutes from
the previous council meeting which were approved by the motion of Jessica
an were seconded by Carrie. Then Shalyn gave the treasurer’s report.
Jessica moved to ratify the treasurer’s report with the second of Carrie.
After that, Milly told everyone
about the District 6 Night Owl. She said, "It was fun, we had a dance,
played games, went swimming in the La Junta indoor pool and ate pizza."
Gail Koeller gave a brief discussion on the Achievement Banquet. She told
us that there was about 117 people present. Milly and Jessica talked about
the District Senate. They said that they are planning on switching the
officer training from la Junta to Lamar and instead of swimming we will go
bowling. Bruce Fickenscher shared that the 2005 Leaders Forum will be in
Lamar on October 14-16.

Old Business: the concession stand
committee had nothing to discuss because the committee had not met yet.
New Business: The first thing was
the 2005 budget. We discussed and approved. Jessica moved to approve it
and Carrie seconded it. Next was the 2005 Calendar. Again Jessica made
motion to approve the 2005 calendar with the second of Carrie. We also
discussed the state dues. Shalyn moved for each 4-H member to pay one
dollar and council pay the rest. Milly seconded it. We tabled the moving
of meetings from Haswell, Eads and Sheridan Lake. Bonnie Lessenden made
motion to table it and Jessica and Milly seconded it. Shalyn made motion
to adjourn the meeting at 7:42 p.m. and Dally and Carrie seconded it.
Meeting adjourned. No council meeting in December due to holidays.
