East End Events

Verna Hallock was not home. I always enjoy visiting with her. Verna, Bernice Tuttle, and Mary Louise Huddleston rarely miss any of Plainview’s games. You are true fans. We also have this competition thing regarding buying the winning ticket for the baked goods that are raffled off after the home games!

Judy Tuttle had a houseful this Sunday. Joe and Teresa Uptergrove, Clovis and Loren, Greg, Bernice, Lindsey and Eric Jensen, Trey and Austin, Tracy, Taylor, and Gary, Ramona Glover, Kim Freeman. All enjoyed their Thanksgiving together.

Megan Linder was tongue-tied when she answered the phone. Couldn’t think of a thing. Well, I prodded her for news anyway. Tim, Deb, Megan, and Tyler went to Lamar Friday and spent a lot of money on groceries. Sunday they had dinner at Brian and Dorcas Berggren’s home. They will travel to Hutchinson for Thanksgiving at Ester Kaywood’s. After that, it’s dirt-bikes.

Wilma Eitel had Trey Harris over for breakfast Sunday. Tyler Harris came over to spend the day with her. Tammy also came in through the back door and they had a great time visiting. Wilma and JoAnn Harris had supper with Wendy Allen in Lamar. They enjoyed visiting with each other.

Tom Pape ignored my message. I have no idea what he was up to. Hope he is finally getting over the Presidential results: he suffers from Busheritis.

Deb ‘cruise’ Shivers had her phone off the hook after she got home from the Plainview/Cheyenne Wells Jr. high games. Our girls lost 10-32. The boys really hit the ropes in the last half. We did lose 12-16, but they hustled. Great job, HAWKS!!!

Ruth Fees and her lovely cat, Portia, are having stuffed chicken for the holiday. Oh, Portia says ‘Happy Turkey day.’ Ruth may go to Colorado Springs to visit her sister, and may not. Tune in for next week’s run. Hope she buckles Portia in her seat.

Wesley Arns told me his family went to Pueblo and hit Sam’s club. He said his sister Heather felt a little sick on the way home, but got over it. He loved sleeping in on Friday. Hooray for snow!!! Wesley and Kristin had a snowball fight (he said he won), and warmed up with hot cocoa.

Robert and Marilyn Hopkins will have Michelle and family over for the holiday. They also wish everyone a great Thanksgiving.

Hazel Woelk and Juanita Barr went to Lamar. Hazel hit the beauty shop and Juanita got a massage from her daughter, Etha.

Linda Stum spent the weekend with Kami in the Springs and went Christmas shopping. Monte and Kirbi went pheasant hunting and were successful. Got their exercise.

Chris Stum is home (where’s his camera?). Misty and Sean are also visiting Lane and Tammy. Their bridal shower is a week from Sunday at Plainview School. Everyone is welcome to attend.

The Freouf family is traveling to San Antonio over the holiday and plan on taking in the sites and Sea World. Have a great time!

Susan Greenfield is going home to Sterling this week. Everybody will be there (well, we won’t). She will visit her 6th grade teacher, Mrs. Hagen, who is now only 97 years young. Susan is only 63, ah, or was she born in ’63? Too much static on the line.

Larry Koeller said harvest is over and they can r-e-l-a-x!! They will have the family over on Sunday to celebrate Thanksgiving.

Paul and Donna Splitter celebrated their 13th anniversary. Congrats!!!

Denis and Theresa Weber will have Cathy, Connie, and family home for this holiday. They wish all a Happy Thanksgiving.

Rick and Kim Harris are giving us a 2nd phone line for the holidays? Yippee!!! Cassie and Lana were at Eads for the 4-H leadership conference. Lana’s dialing finger got a work-out because our phone was busy. Well, I was ‘busy’ gathering news.

Mary Louise Huddleston attended Eva Mae Wheeler’s 80th. Mary Lou also changed the oil in her mower and is getting her equipment ready for spring. She also went to Mildred Crockett’s 80th birthday, along with Verna Hallock and Sharon Scott. All of us who knew her terrific son, Rick, miss him. He always had a big grin and humor to throw at you. Mary Loiuse told me when she first moved here, she did not like the country. She also tore down the outhouse. Hey you go girl!!! Whatever it takes to get indoor plumbing. I saw Larry Huddleston and he is looking well.

Me, I missed Monday night football so I could gather the news for Lana, and this was a privilege to help out my energetic daughter. I had a great time doing this job for her.

President Bush recently pardoned ‘the’ turkey…ever take a look at the long list of ‘turkeys’ Bill Clinton pardoned? Have a lovely Thanksgiving.
