Middle School band students traveled
to Limon Friday to try-out for a place in the Honor Band. They and their
families were thrilled to get early morning phone calls from their Band
Teacher, Bob Seay, telling them that each student had been chosen for a
chair in the elite group who will have practice sessions and a concert
January 6th. The musicians were Jennifer Negley, Jake Fox,
Keith Hester, Cardon Brandt, Tyler Fox, and Remington Brandt. Jennifer
will play lst chair Clarinet and Jake Fox will be the 2nd chair
percussion.
Ryan Trosper of Eads was inducted
into the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society at Lamar Community College. Ryan
who is an Ag-Business /Economics major has the required high grade point
average to be considered for a membership in this prestigious society.
Some of the Red Hatter ladies donned
their purple attire and flamboyant red hats to sing for and with the
residents at Weisbrod Nursing Home Tuesday evening. Betty Crow who played
the piano led us. She had made copies of words to "golden oldie" tunes.
What fun that was! Several residents said, "Please come back to sing
Christmas carols for us." The Red Hatters will have a 10:30 a.m. meeting
Saturday at Our Place for ladies who wants to come.
Erika Rice wrote a letter to me from
near Hawaii where she is on a ship. She said it is beautiful there but too
hot. Erika said, "I am meeting a ton of new people and learning a lot
about myself. I never realized how much I would miss our little town, but
I would do anything to come back. I am also noticing how much I took
things for granted before." There was more to her precious letter. Erika
would welcome letters at USS Abraham Lincoln CVN 72, AN Rice, Erika A.

Lesa Cole and her mother, Pam, flew
to Kentucky for the National FFA Conference where Lesa was one of the few
members in the Nation who received the American FFA Degree. Lesa is a
sophomore at Lamar Community College and a part time employee at the Kiowa
Healthmart. Pam said that Preston Hoffman and Brandi Roberson of Eads also
received the National Degree but were unable to travel to the East Coast.
Both are college students. It is remarkable that so many young men and
women from Eads have won this award. Their advisor, Lance Jagers, is to be
commended and thanked for stressing fine record keeping. Pam said, "It was
a really wonderful trip except for the flight home to DIA during a
blizzard then driving home at night."
Marsha Beeson showed me some pretty
photos of her daughter, Elizabeth, who was married to Kevin Hope recently
in Lamar. The couple was attended by his brothers, Ryan and Aaron and
sister, Ashlie, and friend Tammy Musgrave.
Lillie Fox was beaming Saturday
because here daughter, Darlene, and husband, Don Jones, were here from
Bloomingdale, Illinois. They have come for thanksgiving.
Cheryl Davis was happy Saturday,
because their daughter, Elizabeth, and friend were home from Fort Lewis
State University in Durango. It is so nice to see the college students who
come home occasionally.
The 25th Weisbrod Annual
Bazaar was a wonderful affair Saturday. Chairwomen, Linda Trosper and Mary
Lou Williams, who have organized these big events for 25 years were given
lovely silk corsages made by Janet McKnight. Auxiliary President, Barb
Diel also was presented with a lovely corsage. The Auxiliary ladies also
served decorated cakes in honor of the occasion. The people who won the
door prize gifts were grateful to the business people and groups and booth
vendors for generously donating. A big thanks goes to Sis Howard making
the contacts for so many gifts.
Many Eads Senior Citizens met at the
First Christian Church Fellowship Hall Wednesday at noon. It was so nice
to eat together in the remodeled and enlarged room. George Crow was
thanked for giving the turkeys for the meal. Turkey sandwiches will be
served at the December meeting.
