Letter to the Editor - Jacobs
November 19, 2004
Dear Editor:
A notice on television said there
are just 45 days left in the year 2004 which means there are just 38 days
until Christmas. Scary, huh? But before you rush off to Pueblo or Lamar
and the pushing, shoving crowds with their coughing and sneezing, look
around at home. The Art Gallery is a treasure chest of beautiful, hand
made, 'manufactured' at home gifts. The members of the group are all
friends and neighbors - people who will help you select just the right
gift for everybody on your list. The drug store has shelves of nice gifts
and clerks who are ready to help you with your Christmas choices. Theresa
has a lovely line of unique gifts and don't forget the most thoughtful of
all - flowers. Even the truck stop has a rack of CD's, tapes and videos.
I have lived here so long I can
remember when there was a business at every store front. I know firsthand
how heartbreaking it is to have to close up shop as we did with our family
owned business a few years ago. We had been a part of the local economy
since 1938 and it was devastating.
So I echo Jeff Campbell, Dennis
Pearson and the City Council - Buy At Home.
