Eads Chamber Revives Lighting ContestNovember 19, 2004 The Eads Chamber of Commerce has decided to once again conduct the Christmas lighting contest for homes and residences this holiday season. A group from the Chamber will judge the lighted homes and winners will be notified. There is no entry form to complete, just decorate and be included in the contest. The first place winner of the lighting contest will receive $75.00 in ‘Eads Bucks’, second place will win $50.00 in ‘Eads Bucks’, and the third place winner will receive $25.00 in ‘Eads Bucks’. Eads Bucks are the same as cash but must be expended at a retail business in Eads. Lighted homes will be judged based upon creativity and overall attractiveness. The official beginning to the Christmas season will occur Tuesday, December 7th at 5:00 p.m. with the annual Fire Department chili supper and arrival of Santa Claus. The Chamber is encouraging everyone to turn on the lights that evening to help mark the official arrival of the holidays.

Eads and Kiowa County businesses are also being asked to decorate for the holidays this year more extensively than in the past. The Chamber believes that sharing the holiday spirit as a community is positive and healthy. Businesses will also be asked to turn on the decorative lights the evening of December 7th.
