County Animal Response Team Training Announcement

The Colorado State Animal Response
Team (SART) and the Colorado Division of Emergency Management will present
critical information on animal issues in disasters on Friday, December 3rd
in Lamar. This presentation is for a variety of agencies, non-profit
organizations and individuals in the Southeast Colorado Homeland Security
Region.
This one-day County Animal Response
Team (CART) training session will be held at the Lamar Community Center,
606 South 6th Street, Lamar, CO (registration opens 8:00 am and the
session starts at 8:30 am.) The region includes Baca, Bent, Crowley,
Kiowa, Otero, and Prowers Counties.

The program is designed for emergency managers,
animal control officers, extension personnel, veterinary professionals,
livestock associations, livestock producers, brand inspectors, animal
shelter personnel, law enforcement, wildlife officers, fire, EMS, public
health, and concerned citizens. The program will provide information on
animal issues in disasters, applying established emergency management
principles to animal response, provide information on the developing
Colorado SART-CART network, and provide scenarios that will assist
participants in developing a community plan. There is no registration fee,
