Obituary-LaRue Adamson, 89November 12, 2004 LaRue Lillie Arnold was born September 27, 1915, to Gustavas Adolfus and Cecil (Berry) Arnold at 1211 Kerr Street in Eads. LaRue was the second of four children, older sister Orletha; younger brother, Don and younger sister, Floda. The family moved to Chivington where her mother was the Postmaster and her father ran a small grocery store. LaRue attended the Chivington School until the eleventh grade when she married John David Adamson in Tribune, Kansas on August 12, 1933. John and LaRue settled in Rifle, Colorado for a short time. Then they moved to Ft. Lupton, where John worked at the beet mill and LaRue helped John's sister, Mary and husband Roy run a gas station and care for their two boys. Later John and LaRue moved from Ft. Lupton back north of Chivington where he worked as a farmer for his parents and H.H. Hooker. It was here where LaRue gave birth to their first child, a little girl named Alma May on May 1, 1934. Alma, the first of eleven children would be followed by Doris in April 1936, Jimmy in June 1939, David in August 1941, Dale in July 1943, Bonnie in August 1945, Bud in October 1946, Linda and Lois in February 1948, Daryll in October 1954, Jerry in October 1956. LaRue and John raised their children on the Adamson family homestead nine miles northwest of Chivington. It was here that John passed away on June 10, 1974. LaRue took care of the homestead until her move to the Unity Village of Eads in January 1992. She lived there until entering the Weisbrod Memorial Hospital and Nursing Home m the first part of September 2004 where she passed away on October 21, 2004. LaRue was preceded in death by her husband, John David Adamson; her son, Jim Adamson; daughter-in-law, Jackie Adamson; her parents, Gustavas and Cecil (Berry) Arnold; brother, Donald Arnold; sister. Orletha MaciIntosh; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild in infancy. She is survived by her sister, Floda Schab of Seattle, Washington; her children Alma (Bob) Buchanan of Manhattan, Kansas; Doris (Tom) Owens of Sparks, Nebraska; David (Ruth) Adamson and Dale (Linda) Adamson of Chivington, Colorado; Bonnie (Mike) Bishop of Calhan; and Bud (Marlene) Adamson, Linda (Rodney) Hopkins, Lois (Danny) Weidorfer, Daryll (Mandy) Adamson, Jerry (Tina) Adamson all of Eads; and daughter-in-law, Doris Adamson of Lamar. She is also survived by forty-two grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren. |
