Kiowa County WIFE Chapter Elects Officers

Kiowa County WIFE chapter 124 met
October 28 at Our Place Restaurant in Eads. It was our annual county
meeting at which the following officers were elected for 2005: President
Fran Larrew, Vice-President Cathy Scherler; Secretary Freda Schmidt,
Treasurer Fannie Murdock, Historian Mary Ann Richardson, Reporter Phyllis
Nelson, County Committee Minority Representative Fran Larrew, Telephone
Tree Hazel Woelk, Photographer Cathy Scherler, Commodity and Issue Chairs:
Beef Fran Larrew, Cereal Grains Mary Ann Richardson, Energy Phyllis
Nelson, Oilseeds Cathy Scherler, Rural Health Freda Schmidt and Wind Data
Theresa Weber.

advisor and Mike Stephens from the Pueblo FSA office spoke to us about
LDP’s, which farms to sign, disaster aid to agricultural areas for 2003 or
2004 crop years and global positioning systems which will be in use in the
near future to determine boundary lines and acres.

We received $50 for the fair parade
float, taking 2nd place for organizations.
State convention was held November 4
at Our Place at 11 a.m. Names submitted by our chapter for State Treasurer
and Board of Directors were Jennifer Folzein from Sterling; for Secretary
Freda Schmidt; Historian Mary Lou Williams. Fran Larrew and Freda Schmidt
will attend National Wife Convention in Wichita, Kansas on November 18-20.
WIFE will be serving lunch at the
Hospital Bazaar on November 20. The menu will include Sloppy Joes, ham and
cheese sandwiches, baked beans, potato salad, pies and drinks. We will
also have fresh pecans for sale. If you wish to order pecans in advance or
