Eads 5th Grade Class Celebrates Arbor Day!November 12, 2004 On October 27th, Ms. Lana Peterson's 5th grade class helped the Town of Eads and the Eads Tree Board celebrate Arbor Day by planting a bur oak in Maine Street Park. The class learned about Arbor Day and learned how to properly plant a tree. The students adopted the new bur oak tree. The Colorado State Forest Service presented Ms. Peterson with a state tree poster, Colorado native tree card packet, Colorado native tree seeds packet, and a book entitled The Forest Where Ashley Lives. One student also won a drawing for an Austrian pine! The Town of Eads was presented with its annual Tree City USA award. 2003 marked the 10th year that the Town has been presented with this important recognition! Eads Tree Board Members, Marvin Watson, BJ Jones, and Shelly Van Landingham watered all of the Maine Street trees: The trees received over 800 gallons of water! A big thanks to the Eads Fire Department for the use of their portable water tank and pump!
