Seniors and disabled adults are
being targeted in Prowers County and other Colorado counties by a
door-to-door solicitor offering to help folks obtain the Colorado
Property, Rent and Heat rebate; he is selling the forms for $50.00 each
and offering immediate approval.
Please do not fall for this scam, to
apply for this rebate is free. You can call your local County Department
of Human Services and receive this form or get forms at
www.revenue.state.co.us.
There is another program to help with energy costs, LEAP (Low Energy
Assistance Program) a federally funded program administered by the
Colorado Department of Human Services. LEAP is designed to help with your
winter heating costs. Request an application for LEAP at 1-866-HEAT HELP.
If you are approached by this solicitor please report it to your local
police department and your County Department of Human Services.
