AARP ElderWatch Warns of Scam

Seniors and disabled adults are being targeted in Prowers County and other Colorado counties by a door-to-door solicitor offering to help folks obtain the Colorado Property, Rent and Heat rebate; he is selling the forms for $50.00 each and offering immediate approval.

Please do not fall for this scam, to apply for this rebate is free. You can call your local County Department of Human Services and receive this form or get forms at www.revenue.state.co.us. There is another program to help with energy costs, LEAP (Low Energy Assistance Program) a federally funded program administered by the Colorado Department of Human Services. LEAP is designed to help with your winter heating costs. Request an application for LEAP at 1-866-HEAT HELP. If you are approached by this solicitor please report it to your local police department and your County Department of Human Services.
