Christy Hopkins Named to SC Homecoming Court

Christy Hopkins, Towner, was a member of the 2004 Homecoming court at Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas. As a finalist for Homecoming queen, Hopkins was honored during coronation ceremonies Saturday, October16, during the Homecoming football game against McPherson College. Tia Leach, Columbia, Missouri was crowned queen.

Hopkins, the daughter of Cheri Hopkins and the late Jim Hopkins, is a senior mass communications and film major with a minor in English. She is the editor of "The Collegian," the campus newspaper, and manages SCTV, the college’s television news production. Hopkins serves as the publicity manager for SC’s A Cappella choir and is involved in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program.

Last year, she was recognized as a "Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges" and has been on the Dean’s List at SC for the past three years. Hopkins plans to pursue a career in public relations upon graduation from Southwestern.
