For this week’s issue, the Kiowa County Press offered each of the candidates for Kiowa County Commissioner free space to present their views on issues facing the county, their qualifications, or anything else they felt would be pertinent to the voters. Donald Oswald and Mike Weirich are seeking the seat for Commissioner District 3, while Vern Harris is unopposed in District 1.

In the few remaining days before the 2004 General Election, the Press encourages voters to carefully weigh the issues and candidates on this year’s ballot. Sample copies of the ballot appeared in the October 22 issue of the Press, and are also available in the Kiowa County Clerk’s office. With a three page ballot, we suggest taking time to mark a sample ballot and take the sample with you in to the voting booth for easy reference and more efficient voting.

No matter what your position on an issue or choice of candidates for office, the Press encourages each registered voter to take time to cast a ballot. Polls will be open next Tuesday, November 2, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
