Artists of the Plains to Host Two Local Authors
October 29, 2004
As part of the kick-off for the
Artists' Gallery holiday season the collective will sponsor its first
author presentation and book signing Saturday, November 6 from 4 to 7 p.m.
at the gallery and gift shop on U. S. 287 across from the fairgrounds.
New Kiowa County resident, Jeff C.
Campbell will present his first mystery, Treasure of the Soul, and
Lucinda Jane Perry from Kit Carson will introduce her debut fiction novel
Where There's a Will.
Campbell's novel is set in the
border country in southern New Mexico and Albuquerque, both areas where he
served as a law enforcement officer for the last two decades. "It's a
western story about a family of ranchers who are also third generation
lawmen. It's about the country, the good and bad and how the characters
deal with their personal, ranch and professional lives while solving hot
and cold cases." His book is available through various on-line booksellers
like Amazon.com, B&N.com and through the on-line bookstore at Xlibris.com.

Perry's book draws on her life
experiences. The former school counselor now lives on a ranch with her
husband. Her story centers on events that had their roots in her main
character’s childhood spent on a farm in Arkansas and now re-surface as
her protagonist Libby Forester returns to attend the funeral of her
grandmother. A bittersweet tale with a family of personalities we all can
recognize. Her book is available by order through the author and through
book distributors, order desks and Inkwater Press, Portland, Oregon at
www.inkwaterpress.com.
Both authors have graciously agreed
to have a short presentation and question and answer session from 4 to
4:30, then will have copies of their work on hand and be glad to
personally inscribe each book. Refreshments will be served. What better
gift than local art for the season? While there peruse the paintings,
gifts and other art available. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the
gallery, which continues to support the creative efforts of the region.
