LETTER to the Editor-Davis

I would like to express my support for Donald Oswald, Kiowa County Commissioner District 3 candidate. Donald has lived the last 22 years in Kiowa County, except while attending college. He has lived, worked, participated, and demonstrated his commitment and support for District 3, Kiowa County, Southeast Colorado, and rural Colorado as a whole, by the time, interest, and resources he has given back to the community. How?

Donald filled a vacancy on the Haswell Town Council for 1.5 yrs; has served on the Haswell Volunteer Fire Department for 3 years, 2 as fire chief; 3 yrs as a 4-H leader; and assisted with numerous fundraisers, community enhancement & water works projects in and around Haswell. He serves as the Haswell representative for the Kiowa County Economic Development Foundation and county representative for the Colorado State Patrol Victim’s Advocate program. Donald served on the board of Eads Consumer Supply Co. for nine years, filling the offices of both Vice President and secretary at various times. For 10 of the last 20 years, he has served as President of the Kiowa County Farm Bureau board. He has served on the St Augustine church board, been a member of the Kit Carson Chamber of Commerce, and held all officer positions in the Cheyenne County Cattlemen’s Association.

My support for Donald is not based solely on our relationship. I have witnessed his generosity in giving back to the communities in which he lives and works; not being satisfied to sit back and receive all the rights and privileges our nation and communities offer. His commitment to community is commendable. I applaud him for his giving spirit.

Almost without exception, when conversing with Donald, he expresses his interest, excitement, and positive outlook about what is happening in Kiowa County and Southeast Colorado. Donald is always approachable and open to new ideas.

I encourage Kiowa County voters to join me in supporting Donald’s candidacy for Kiowa County District 3 Commissioner.
