Obituary-Dallas Gale Skidmore, 72

Dallas Gale Skidmore was born on December 30, 1931, at Parma, Missouri, to Sherman Randolph and Lois Fay (Barker) Skidmore. His childhood years were spent in Missouri and Michigan.

Dallas met his future wife, Nancy Alice Seward, in 1950. They were married on June 3, 1952. Together, over the next 30 years, they ministered to many churches. His also ministered at the Christian Church in Cheyenne Wells, Colorado. His last ministry was on a part-time basis to the church in Eads.

While living in Ft. Recovery, Ohio, Dallas and Nancy adopted a 4-1/2 month old infant, Brian Douglas.

After his retirement from the ministry, Dallas and Nancy contracted with the Postal Service for the rural mail route out of Cheyenne Wells. Their contract was from July 1, 1988 until the present. Dallas loved delivering the mail and continued to do so until about 3 1/2 weeks ago.

Dallas departed this earthly life on Saturday, August 7, 2004, at Keefe Memorial Hospital, in Cheyenne Wells.

Dallas is survived by his widow, Nancy, of the home; by one son, Brian; daughter-in-law, Leeann; by a grandson, Dylan, and a granddaughter, Brittany, all of Castte Rock, Colorado. His parents preceded him in death.

Funeral services for Dallas G, Skidmore were held on Tuesday, August 10, 2004 at the Cheyenne Wells Christian Church with Pastor Paul Gifford and Minister Alvin Clamp officiating. Marge Carter and Rayetta Palmer were the instrumentalists. The congregational selections were "Amazing Grace", "How Great Thou Art" and "I'll Fly Away". Serving as casket bearers were Jerry Weirich, Mark Walter, Stacy Catlin, Garrett Quint, Earl Helm and Russ Hoffman. The final committal services were held at the Fairview Cemetery in Cheyenne Wells. Brown Funeral Home in Cheyenne Wells, was in charge of arrangements.
