Free Flu Shots October 16
While Supplies Last

As many of you are already aware that on October
16, 2004 the Kiowa County Nursing Service will be holding a Mass
Vaccination Clinic at the Kiowa County Courthouse. The clinic will be in
the basement meeting room and we will be giving free flu shots. The flu
shots are free for this day only.
The Department of Public Health and Environment
has given our region 10,000 free doses of the flu vaccine and this amount
has been given to the 9 participating counties based on population. Kiowa
County has been allotted 702 free doses. Federal guidelines has required
us to purchase vaccine from our private companies for residents who are
eligible to receive the vaccine through entitlement programs such as
Medicare and Medicaid, so we are expecting to have enough vaccine
available on the 16th to vaccinate over half the population in
Kiowa County.
We are highly encouraging everyone to participate
in this exercise and receive a free flu shot while the vaccine is
available. In the event we have a large turn out on the 16th it
is possible we will give all our available vaccine during this exercise
and will not have any vaccine left to give after the 16.
