Wild Horse Roundup

Saturday evening the annual end of
summer party was held at the Ernie Hammer’s. They hold it every year and a
large crowd always shows up. People bring food to share. There are always
lots of wieners to roast and lots of sharp sticks and people gather around
a fire for roasting. They bring in a singer from Olney Springs and last
year he was voted a top singer in Colorado. He was very good and I
couldn’t keep my feet still and one song got me to calling a square dance,
but I think Clax Duvall was the only one that heard me. One thing on the
menu that was different was barbecued goat which was very good. One thing
we got to do was sing happy birthday to Brenda Hammer. All in all, the
Hammer’s put on a great party.
This past week Darrel and Yvonne
Schallenberger went to Iowa to visit son Scott and family. He works in
Omaha, but lives over the line in Iowa. I think they were gone about five
days.
Marty and I cut down trees Saturday
and also cleaned our chimneys. I was mainly an observer as she can run a
chain saw. I have to cut them in stove lengths.
