Small Group Hears Candidates at ForumOctober 1, 2004 The Candidate Forum held during Chamber After Hours last Monday evening was attended by a surprisingly small group of interested citizens. The Chamber had anticipated greater public interest in what Kiowa County Commissioner candidates Vern Harris, Donald Oswald, and Mike Weirich had to say than was reflected by the small turnout. The three candidates treated those in attendance, however, to a lively and productive discussion. The central focus of all three candidates was growth and stability for the county, creation of jobs and increasing opportunities for county residents. Harris, who is running unopposed from the Sheridan Lake district, reiterated his dedication to the job of county commissioner and expressed appreciation for the people of Kiowa County and their support.

Oswald and Weirich, who are competing for the Haswell district seat, provided background information about themselves and why they are running for office. Both candidates expressed an interest in working for the residents of the county and for strengthening the economic health of Kiowa County. The general election will be held on Tuesday, November 2nd and the Eads Chamber of Commerce encourages all citizens to vote and help determine the future leadership of Kiowa County.
