1st Annual Kiowa County Fall Horseback Poker RideOctober 1, 2004 We would like to take the opportunity to invite you, your horse and your family to the 1st annual Kiowa County horseback Poker ride and BBQ. The date will be October 10th with the ride kicking off at 9:00 a.m. The location is approximately 70 miles east of Pueblo on Highway 96. Riders and non-riders alike are invited. We are quite excited about this event and look forward to sponsoring this event each Spring and Fall. Our future rides will be for causes such as MDA, Colorado Special Olympics, Children’s Hospital, etc. Please R.S.V.P. by October 3rd by any of the following means: Cindy Williams, phone 719-438-5907; Fax 719-438-5912. There will be two levels of rides. The short course will consist of approximately 7.5 miles, and the long course will consist of approximately 13 miles. Each course will have prize categories consisting of best and worst poker hand. The prizes will be as follows: Long course: Best hand, 25% of prize monies; Worst hand, 20% of prize monies. Short course: Best hand, 15% of prize monies; Worst hand, 10% of prize monies.

The ride will take place on the open prairie where there will be ample opportunity to see wildlife indicative to the plains of Southeastern Colorado. There will be checkpoints along the way to denote times of each participant. Once you reach a checkpoint you will be given a card. You will use these cardsto make your poker hand which will be used at the end of the ride to determine the best and worst hands. Non-riders are welcome to remain at the staging point to socialize with the other non riders and join in the BBQ at the end of the ride. When responding, please have the name of each participant, as well as the names of each non-participant.
