Wild Horse Roundup

We called Darwin and Velda Bollinger to wish them a happy belated 50th wedding anniversary. He said they had a nice party at the church with a large crowd. Velda is on chemo, but that she is doing real well. Our prayers are that she will continue so.

We received a grandparent card from Nathan and Bernece in Old Mexico and pictures of their kids. They said things are going well at the orphanage and he is now teaching first, second and third grade. He is a teacher by profession. He said donations come in pretty regular.

We had some old friends visit us today. George and Pearl Pfalzgraff now of Greeley visited us for two or three hours. For them it is like coming home. George was born here and Pearl was from north of here in the Second Central area. George and I put in some time in school together here.

The school kids hauled bales for us today and it was a welcome sight. Rick Gekeler is their sponsor. A few of the kids were Jackie Rhoades, a Lengel girl, Mark Hogan, Curt Connelly, a Dechant boy and I don’t know the rest. They really work.

I went to Hugo Friday evening with Marty after we cut her some wood. We set two posts in her rail fence that had been broken for some time. She done most of the work, but I helped enough that I thought it was enough that I could complain about being tired. We went to the ballgame that night. Hugo played Flagler which Flagler won, I think. It was 44 to 20 when we left with a little over ten minutes left.

I read a news item in a Denver paper that made me real proud of the Kit Carson School and the people that run it. There were six schools in the state that was called Blue Ribbon schools for their academic performance and Kit Carson was one of them. Congratulations!

We talked to Norway today and the twins walked in. They had just come back from their last soccer game of the season. They lost 3-1 and they said they didn’t win a game this year. They are looking forward to getting here the night of October 1. Marty will meet them and will spend the rest of the night with her.
