Sheridan Lake Livewires Report

The Sheridan Lake Livewires 4-H Club met at Plainview School on August 31, 2004 at 5:30 p.m. President Cassie Harris called the meeting to order at 5:40 p.m. with the following members present: Lana Weber, Megan Linder, Shelby Harris, Vincent Koeller, Katie Sanders, Tyler Harris, Lauren Weber, Ryan Koeller and leader Gail Koeller.

The American Pledge and 4-H Pledge were said. Roll call was "Your Favorite School Subject." The minutes were read and approved from our August 3, meeting. The Treasurer’s Report was given. We have one outstanding check from February.

The Kiowa County Council Report was given by Vincent: Prairie Queen was commended for doing a wonderful job with Exhibit Day. Lamb Shearing will be Tuesday, September 7 at 5:00 p.m. The following members have been nominated for a Council office: President-Lana, Secretary-Megan, Treasurer-Cassie, Reporter-Vincent. Fairground Clean-Up day is Sunday, September 5 at 2:00 p.m. The club unanimously agreed that the cake decorating project should have a real cake instead of a picture to display at the fair.

Old Business: We discussed having a few Dance Practices before going to the State Fair on September 4th.

Members were reminded to bring their projects, ribbons, papers and family pictures to the fair by 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 9.

Float details were as follows: Trailer and Pick Up will be provided by the Rick Harris Family, Building will be provided by George Crow, Gail will get the skirt, 4-H signs and Sheridan Lake sign and candy. We will work on the float on Wednesday, September 8, at 5:00 p.m. and then again Saturday, September 11, at 8:00 a.m.

Our Booth display is done and ready to be set up for the fair. Any member/parent who can help we will be setting this up on Thursday morning.

 

Concession Stand schedules were all ok and each family was reminded they need to bring one pie.

Rodeo Program teams were reminded they will be selling on Friday from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

New Business: Livestock Record Books are due September 2 in the Extension Office. A Committee was set for the National 4-H Week Display, that was Katie and Gail. Livestock Record Books, Treasurer’s Book, Secretary’s Book and Historian’s Book are due October 14, 2004 at the Extension Office.

It was voted on and approved to change our next club potluck/meeting to Friday, October 8, at 6:00 p.m. Members need to invite your Leaders, Adopted Grandparents, Families and Senior Citizens. The food/paper products committee is: Shelby, Tyler and Kim. The decorations committee is Megan, Vincent and Gail.

Club Thank You Notes were discussed and signed.

Our club Council Representative for the September 27th meeting at 7:00 p.m. will be Lana and Vincent.

A demonstration was given by Vincent on "How to Show a Pig"

The meeting was adjourned at 7:00 p.m. Our next meeting/potluck will be October 8th.
