Wild Horse Roundup

We really had a house full this
weekend with Steve’s family being here. There was our two granddaughters,
7 great grandkids and Steve and Debbie. We all went to Kit Carson Day
which we enjoyed seeing old friends and all the activities. Jon, Ruth, Jay
and Patty Sinnes were there from Security visiting friends they seldom
see. There was a nice parade and a crowd enjoyed a good barbecue.
Ernie Hammer gave Steve and the kids
a ride in his wagon which they enjoyed. Tony might have been the teamster.
Marty and I along with the help of
Brenda Hammer judged the tricycles and bicycles. It wasn’t easy as there
were some nice ones. Steve did some patching on Marty’s and our roof
before they went home Saturday evening.
Marty and I went to the Melodrama
Thursday evening and it was a good one as usual. A lot of work goes into
it. It made me think back when it started in Kits Keg, a little building
south of the hardware that held 65 people, so we had to put on a lot of
shows. The first show one of the dancing girls came to the bar and asked
if I served ladies so I sang "Every Day is Ladies Day with Me" and that
was the start of the singing bartender.
During one show an incident happened
that was funny and not so funny. Rho-Ho the rooster (Glen Derby) stomped
his foot so hard he broke a bone in his food and it hurt so bad he had to
go out and lay down in a camper. It has been about 30 years since the
first one and it now has a permanent place in the old pool hall.
