Kiowa County 4-H Council Report

The Kiowa County 4-H Council met on August 17, 2004 at the extension office in Eads. The meeting was called to order at 7:05 pm by president Milly Spady, with the American Pledge and 4-H Pledge being said. The following people attended the meeting: Jace Roberson, Dally Lessenden, Jessica James, Vincent Koeller, Lauren Weber, Kaye Kasza, Bruce & Brenda Fickenscher, Dawn James, Carol Spady, P.J. Lessenden, Shannon Dixon, Marissa Dixon,Pete Rohlman and Gail Koeller.

The Minutes of the July 19, 2004 Council meeting were read and approved. The Treasurer’s Report was approved.

The following Reports were given: Prairie Queen was commended for doing such a wonderful job with the Exhibit Day and the creative stage they put together. Everyone thought it was a very nice day. Kiowa County has approximately 54 projects going to the State Fair.

Jessica reported on the Horse Performance Day, 5 members participated in this event. It was a very nice day.

Lamb Shearing for the Kiowa County Fair will be Tuesday, September 7 at 5:00 p.m. Please have your sheep washed really good before shearing. Members taking advantage of this service can then leave their lambs at the fair grounds.

The following was Old Business: The Kiowa County Fair Concession Stand was discussed and each family is to bring one pie for the concession stand. To make the grill work properly the lid needs to be SHUT to grill the hamburgers & hotdogs.

2004-2005 Council Nominations are as follows: Senator: Milly Spady, Shalyn Laird, Carrie Roberson; President: Lana Weber, Milly Spady; Secretary: Dally Lessenden, Megan Linder, Addie Sueffer; Treasurer: Jessica James, Cassie Harris; Reporter: Vincent Koeller, Carrie Roberson; Leader Advisor: Brenda Fickenscher, Shannon Dixon, Carol Spady, Susan Greenfield.

 

The Meritorious Service Award was discussed.

All the clubs stated that they had ideas for their Club Booths at the Kiowa County Fair.

The following was New Business: The Fairground Clean-Up Day is set for Sunday, September 5, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. Please bring wheelbarrows, rakes and shovels. Lance Jagers will be in charge of this activity.

Other Business: P.J. has requested extra plastic bags to be dropped off at the 4-H Concession Stand. Thank you in advance in helping with this need.

Cleta & James Engelhardt would like to have 4-H family pictures – old as well as new families. Have them in frames to display with 4-H projects during fair to go with the theme "Family A Fair". Please bring the pictures with your projects September 9th.
