Wild Horse Roundup

I stopped at Yvonne and Darrell Schallenberger’s and got to see son Scott and family who I hadn’t seen for a long time. They live in Iowa now. Becky and husband were there from Texas also. They were here for Kim’s daughter’s wedding. It was nice to see them.

Daisy Duvall served club dinner Thursday and there was a large crowd there to enjoy a delicious ham dinner with all the trimmings.

I sat at the museum Thursday afternoon and some folks came in and said they were trying to find where their family lived. Their name was Baghott and I said I remembered them and thought one was named Jack and the lady said that was the man’s name. When I told him my name he remembered me and Lee also. I think the Baghott house is a block north of Shep’s café.

Marty and I fixed creek gaps Friday and while working on the worst one Don McNeely came by and helped us. Aren’t friends nice? He practiced the day before helping brother Bob fix one on the other side of the bridge.

Marty seen a lot of hawks in from the north Friday and they circled around making a lot of noise and then started sitting in the trees. That happened a few years ago when a big bunch came and circled for quite a long time and she got them on her video camera.

Well today was Fair Day in Hugo and we got there and seen a good parade. I always enjoy Osborne’s band as I call it. They can really make music that’s worth listening to. We went to the fairgrounds and ate barbecue and visited. We visited with a lot of people which I won’t try to name except one as he said I had to mention him. He is an old friend from near Seibert, Gary Short. We watched a good rodeo for quite a while, but left before it was over as Marty had a dinner to go to down towards Karval. I enjoyed visiting Karval friends.

Marty just got home and said they had the most delicious barbecue steaks she had ever eaten. There were only five people there. Robert Pueb cooked the steaks, Denise Williams fixed the rest of the meal and Bob and Sue Dutro and Marty enjoyed eating it.

We had a card from Sara Bledsoe asking if we could have Lee Ann get the address to an art museum in Olso. Marty will e-mail. She mentioned something her dad told her about the square dance club here in Wild Horse. She didn’t realize there was enough people in the ‘50’s for one.

That brought back memories to me. Can I get a little silly and put down a few words we used to call for dancing: "all join hands and circle to the south and let a little sunshine in your mouth. Now you break and swing and back track back and make your feet go whickety whack." A few words of another one: "Chase the possum, chase the coon and chase that pretty girl around the room." It was fun.
