Kiowa County 4-H Horse Performance DayAugust 20, 2004 The 2004 Kiowa County 4-H Horse Performance Day was held August 9, prior to the big thunder storm. All of the performance classes were held in the grass pens east of the arena because of the arena having a large amount of water. What a good problem to have! The Grand Champion Horseman Rosette was awarded to Brian James and the Reserve Grand Champion Rosette was received by Jessica James. These awards were calculated on the points received from the individuals placing in six categories including Written Test, Showmanship, Horsemanship, Western Riding, Reining, and Trail Course. Champion and Reserve Champion designations were also made for the Showmanship Class.

The two winners in this class will compete, with the Champion and Reserve Champion Showmanship winners from the other livestock divisions at the county fair, in the Round Robin Showmanship Class. Jessica James took the top Showmanship honors and Alicia James received the Reserve Showmanship placing. Other Kiowa County 4-H Horse Project members participating in the show included Addie Seifried and Brittnay Splitter. Special thanks go to Christine Monk from Cheyenne Wells for judging the contest, Louis and Dawn James, Mike and Renay Crane, and Brenda Fickenscher for helping set-up courses and keeping me on track.
