Wild Horse Roundup

The Ernie Hammers with son Andy and six grandchildren went to South Dakota and Mount Rushmore. They were gone four days. They took two vehicles and their fold down camper trailer. They reported they had a good time.

I was told three of our local cowboys done well in the cattle pinning in Cheyenne Wells. Bob and Gary McNeely and Tony Hammer won the open and took second in the county. Nice work guys.

I baby-sat the Museum in Kit Carson Thursday morning. I wasn’t very busy as I had two visitors from south of St. Louis and they bought some cards.

Marty, Lee and I went to Denver Friday for Marty to get a crown on her tooth she chipped in Norway. We spent the night at Steve’s and came home Saturday evening. We got to see three of our great grandkids, Alexandra (Alex), Noah and tiny baby Erma.

I got my nose cut on Monday so I get asked what happened. The truth is I had a little spot taken off. When I think of it I say Lee said to shut up and I thought she said stand up.

Liz Mattics stopped Monday evening and gave us a paper about the Sinnes party and a few days later we got two more. One from my niece Ruth and one from Dorothy Palmer Hawkins. She is a sister of Bob Palmer of Hugo and gets the paper. She was raised around Boyero and Aroyo she knows some of who I write about. Her husband was born in Wild Horse 78 years ago. We used to live in the Hawkins house in the ‘30’s, but they had moved before we came. We never knew them, but I’ve knows the Palmers for years. As I always say it’s a small world.

Well my creek gap fence didn’t last long as Sandy came up and was running bank full. It’s been many a day since we have seen that.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Evelyn Garner and family of Eads. Her husband Dan who we knew a long time passed away this past week.

Lee Ann called today and she has her tickets for October 1. She was home alone as someone has to milk those 13 cows. She said it was warm and it made her sweat.
