Wild Horse RoundupJuly 23, 2004 Our congratulations to Penny McPherson on the fine job she done showing the Kit Carson Museum on the TV program Colorado Get-Aways. It’s nice to see something close to home being shown to people all around the state. It makes me think back quite a few years ago when Bill Custer the weatherman at Channel 9 and crew gave the weather from here. They had a big truck to broadcast from here. They flew down a few days earlier in a helicopter to set things up. They brought two vans also. I held the weather map out doors and our house was full of lights and cameras while they interviewed Lee. Kind of exciting. Marty and I went to the Tumbleweed Festival in Cheyenne Wells today. We didn’t do much except walk around and visit and I got my share of hugs which I enjoy. It is nice to see friends we don’t see very often. We looked at the arts and crafts and there is a lot of talented people around. Our neighbor Bill Skinner had a lot of his beautiful belt buckles and ties there. His brother Chuck of Denver came to help. I don’t care too much for slow pitch ball.

Last weeks news in one paper got my rain report a little off, instead of 1.45" we had 2.45". We had 2/10th last night so it keeps my morning glories watered. Marty’s animals kinda keeps her a little busy. Last week it was a porcupine and this week her dog Rusty tried to shake hands with a skunk that called for a bath. Allen and Luanna Naugle went to Texas this weekend to a family reunion. Things look a little different behind our post office. The club ladies had the trees cut down as there was a lot of dead in them. It’s 10:30 goodnight. We just got home from church and it sure wasn’t very crowded just three of us.
