Obituary-William A. Andrews 87William Andrews passed away Thursday, July 15, 2004 at the St. Anthony Hospital in Denver. He was born August 5, 1916 at Vinland, Kansas the son of William B. and Stella J. Hoskinson Andrews. William has been a resident of Garden City, Kansas since 1921 after moving from Vinland. He graduated from Pierceville High School in 1931, served his country in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII and then in the US Air Force Reserves until 1965 and worked as a farmer. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Garden City, Kansas, a member of the Elks Lodge, the VFW and the American Legion all of Garden City. On March 17, 1944 he married Erna Berndt in Amarillo, Texas. Williams is survived by his wife, 3 daughters Karen Koch Booth of Reno, Nevada; Lynne Cronin of Dwight, Illinois; Ruth Johnson, Blue Springs, Missouri; 1 brother Raymond E. Andrews, Garden City, Kansas; 8 nephews and nieces, 7 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, a brother, a nephew and a great nephew. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 19 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Garden City, Kansas with Pastor Lyle Stuehrenberg officiating. Interment followed in Valley View Cemetery at Garden City, Kansas. The family requests memorials be given to William A. Andrews memorial fund in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home, 620 N. Main, Garden City, Kansas 67846 who was in charge of arrangements. |
