East End EventsJuly 23, 2004 I am sorry that I didn’t get last week’s news in. I was at cheer camp; I did, however, learn two new dances. So it all paid off in the end. Last Sunday, Sharon Scott, Tom Scott, Mary Louise Huddleston, and Ryan and Taylor Scott went to Bent’s Fort and then continued their trip to La Junta to watch the Koshare Indians dance. Last Wednesday, Sharon and Dick Scott, Ryan and Taylor Scott, and Mary Louise Huddleston went to Garden City to visit the zoo. It was an extremely hot day, but they still had a great time. Ryan and Taylor will be staying with Sharon and Dick Scott for the rest of the summer. Plainview school cheerleaders had a successful cheer camp this year. Cassie Harris, Shelby Harris, Megan Linder, Erin Specht, and Lauren Weber were nominated for All-American; Lauren Weber was chosen as one several All-American‘s. The junior high received the Championship Chant award. That was awarded to the squad with the best chant. This gives them the opportunity to travel to either Hawaii or Florida to cheer at the Hula Bowl. The high school received the Herkie Team Award. That is awarded to the team who showed sportsmanship and teamwork. We walked away with many trophies and the ability to do a full extension. Trust me, it is a lot harder than it looks. Also, I don’t think that any of us have ever been that sore in our lives. Rhonda, Mike, and Emily Tuttle came to visit Bernice, Judy, and Larry Tuttle on Saturday. They all had lunch at Clovis and Lorene Uptergrove’s on Sunday. Erin Specht and her grandmother, Delores Specht went to El Dorado, Kansas to attend a Holt family reunion. They returned home on Sunday.
