Wild Horse RoundupJuly 9, 2004 Jim and Billie Lafferty attended the funeral for Opal Nicolls in Colorado Springs Wednesday. Their son, Jim, is married to Opal’s granddaughter. Noella Johnson took her son Jordan to Denver Tuesday to have the shoulder he broke operated on. She said he is getting along okay now. Tuesday I went to Hugo to do a few things for Marty. The main thing was to clean the gutters on her roof which packed full. She didn’t want me on a ladder, but I promised to be careful and I was. When she got home at 5:30 she got on the step ladder and trimmed some branches over her garage door, of course I helped. Jim and Billie Lafferty mowed our cemetery Saturday and it is beautiful since all our rain. If the people who took down the fence would put one back up like they said they was going to it would be real nice. Friday Marty, Lee and I went to Colorado Springs to do some shopping. After lunch we went out to Security and spent the afternoon with the Sinnes. They still have some birds to take care of. They are doing pretty good except Ruth has some trouble with her eyes and John isn’t turning any handsprings, but I know some other folks like that. It was a nice visit as we hadn’t seen them for a long time. Marty took John out to pick up some fast food that we ate and then headed home.

We talked to Steve today and a group of them were going to take a picnic lunch and go to a park in Littleton and spend the evening watching fireworks. He said some neighbors were setting off fireworks and someone must have complained as the cops came and took the ones they hadn’t set off and that was all. We talked to Norway today and Lee Ann had to milk three times while the rest of them took their tent and spent the night camping out and fishing. I think she should take up fishing. We ran the video of the girl’s confirmation and it was real nice. Marty and I got ambitious and sawed down a large dead tree in her yard at the ranch and the way we done it didn’t hit the house. Lucky us. There was a large limb of another tree over the house and she got on the roof and put a rope on it and I pulled while she sawed it with her electric chain saw and it never hurt a thing. I just checked our rain gauge and yesterday’s rain put ¾ of an inch in it. We had some small hail that didn’t hurt anything. We had ½ inch and some hail at the ranch.
