Letter to the Editor-Garner

We recently received a copy of the Kiowa County Press dated 5/28/04.

We were appalled to learn anyone would be so against having a recreation area for the younger generation. It is quite apparent she has never witnessed the operation of a recreation center. If you are seen smoking cigarettes under the age of 18 or drinking alcohol under the age of 21 – your welcome to the center is revoked.

There is a plus factor toward your education if you know the basics of pool, darts, shuffleboard, and maybe horseshoes before going away to college or just stepping out in the working world. Some college’s give you a credit towards your degree for taking a course in pool.

We would like to than the Mayor of Eads – plus the City Council for their positive consideration in helping us establish a recreation center. The Mayor was looking at helping build the economy of Eads – not his own personal gain. He excused himself from voting on the variance due to the closeness to the school.

We – as a group – have decided to erect a recreation center on the outskirts of town.

We are positive the city of Eads will be proud of this new establishment. Not only are we going to add a recreation center we plan to rejuvenate a roadside park for our traveling friends.

Again we would like to thank the City Council and the Worthy Mayor for their positive outlook towards adding to the economy of Eads.
