Wild Horse Roundup

Lonnie and Noella Johnson went to Pueblo Friday to see their son Jordan run with the Flagler relay team in the state track meet. It wasn’t to be as they got beat out. That’s good to even qualify to go. I heard that some Kit Carson kids were going, but I don’t know who they were.

Friday was branding at Marty’s. We had quite a bunch all of 14 head. Isn’t it nice when you need help you pick up the phone or see them and they say what day and time. Our crew was Tony hammer, Justin Golding, Allen Naugle, Bob Dutro, Bob and Don McNeely. Don drove from Colorado Springs. Their pay was chocolate lemon pies. Aren’t friends nice?

Saturday was branding at the Hammer’s and Kirsti and I went out so she could see them rope and drag the calves to the fellows to hold. There were a lot of helpers and then some like us just for the food. The amazing thing was the cowboys catching the hind legs. It’s fun to be around a nice bunch like that.

Norman Schumacher’s widow and daughter stopped in a few days ago and they were on their way out to the cemetery. They put white rocks on the grave and made it beautiful. Our cemetery looks nice except the fence was taken down quite some time back and was supposed to be replaced, but nothing has been done yet.

Kirsti got some phone cards for graduation and has been enjoying talking to friends in Norway.

Kirsti and her class from Hugo will be leaving on senior sneak Monday. I think it is San Diego with side trips sightseeing. She and her class in Norway took such a trip and went to Vienna, Austria.

Jim Lafferty just showed me a letter that he has been appointed on the All-State team of Post Quarter Masters Department of Colorado 2003-2004. He has been invited to the convention and to have dinner with the commander at the hotel. It will last 4 days. Congratulations Jim.
