Edward McMahon Coming to Eads June 3

Edward McMahon will present "The
dollars and sense of preserving community character" at a reception on
Thursday, June 3 starting at 5:30 p.m. with appetizers. McMahon will do
his free presentation at 6 p.m. at the Kiowa County Community Building at
the fairgrounds in Eads.
Some of the topics covered will be:
•What are the important characteristics of your community? •What brings
people there and what makes them want to stay? •What changes are on the
horizon and how can you maintain what you value most about your community?
Edward is a land use planner,
attorney, and director of The Conservation Fund’s "American Greenways
Program." He is former president of Scenic America, a national non-profit
organization devoted to protecting America’s scenic landscapes. McMahon is
author of Better Models of Commercial Development, and co-author of
Balancing Nature and Commerce in Gateway Communities. His "Looking
Around" series of articles ran in the Planning Commissioners Journal from
1996 through 2001.
The presentation is sponsored by the
Kiowa County Economic Development Foundation through a National Endowment
for the Arts grant.
