Senior Profile - Alma Salinas
May 21, 2004
Alma Salinas - Alma was born in
the State of Chihuahua in Mexico on October 6, 1985 and came to Eads with
her family when she was in seventh grade. Most people wouldn't know just
how talented, gifted, and kind Alma is because she is so quiet around the
staff and students at Eads High School. Alma has excelled this year by
using her artistic abilities in the graphic design areas where she has
completed phenomenal work on the video yearbook at Eads High School. In
fact, Multimedia, the class with Mrs. Melius where she works on the video
production, is her favorite because it is easy for her and she is very
proud of the product they have created. Alma has also had an opportunity
to work with Rod Johnson at the Farm Service Agency where she has compiled
a large database of local photographs. When Alma isn't working on the
computer or with her artwork she has been invaluable as a Spanish
translator in the district. She is most proud of her family because they
have done so much for her and have supported her through many obstacles.
Alma's plans include a Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design from the Art
Institute of Denver and then either own an art gallery or be an ELL
teacher to high schoolers. Her wise advice to the underclassmen is "learn
everything you can because you will need it sometime in your life, but at
the same time enjoy your high school years because they will never come
back." If she could make a change in the school or community before she
left she would love to "decorate every classroom and make our high school
more colorful, inspiring, and fun!"
