Childcare Center OpensMay 21, 2004 After nearly three years of planning and effort, the Little Sprouts Child Care Center in Eads is now open for business. State licensing inspectors issued licensing credentials earlier this week allowing the center, the first of its kind in Kiowa County, to begin caring for children on Thursday, May 20th. The new state of the art center is located in the south portion of the renovated Bransgrove Building on Maine Street in Eads and is open Monday – Friday from 6am to 6 pm. The center is licensed to provide care for children 6 weeks of age or older. Development of the center has been considered a key element in the future of Eads and Kiowa County. Lack of abundant quality child care has been proven to hinder recruitment efforts by schools and hospitals and new businesses. Lack of childcare availability can also suppress the efforts to get people off of public assistance and into the work sector. Creation of the center will help address those issues for Kiowa County.

Rates at the center were designed to be affordable for Kiowa County residents and are significantly less expensive than Lamar and other surrounding areas. Coupled with the Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) through the Department of Social Services the new center should be affordable for all who need it. An open house is being planned for June so that county residents can view first hand the new center and meet center Director Hallie Fowler and her staff. Details of the open house will be announced shortly. For more information about the center please call 719-438-5840 or stop by the center located at 1309 Maine Street in Eads.
