Wild Horse Roundup

I was trying to think how to start my news when I looked out the window and seen the water standing and it made me think rain. I might not have it just right, but what I wrote on my calendar was about two inches or so. I found out what my overshoes are for. I guess those few words I say when I go to bed has really done some good.

I went to the pancake supper a week ago which was well attended. There was a fellow there from the Historical Society who showed pictures of the old Derby homestead north of Kit Carson. I think they said taken about 1910. While walking around visiting, I seen this lady sitting alone and I asked her if I should know her and she said she was Bob Burns daughter. I told her that her mother, Ruth Neal Burns was my 7th grade teacher. She was from Hugo. Small world.

Our place is like an oasis in the desert. Wednesday a lady came to our house in the rain, her car had quit just east of our house. We got hold of Jeremy of Walt’s Service in Kit Carson. He found a broken belt which he didn’t have. They pushed it by hand to our house and he fixed it Friday.

Bill Skinner told me that his mother is out of the hospital now and is felling better.

Marty and Kirsti went to Denver Friday. Kirsti went to her friend Kristen’s house and she was invited to an after prom party. Kristen’s mother will being Kristi to Limon this evening.

Jim and Billie Lafferty have been doing some work on their house and it sure looks nice. I don’t know what you call it, but it’s an extension from the front of the house. I guess it is lattice work and a nice place for patio furniture.

The club ladies have finished another quilt and I think this is the one they will sell chances on. They sure keep busy.

When there is no new news, check your memory. We watched the Love Boat a few days ago and I thought of 21 years ago when Sue Dutro, Marty and Lee Ann took that cruise. I can’t think of all the places, but Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan and they seen the divers off the high cliffs at Puerto Vallarta, Acapulco. It was a great trip, they took some nice pictures.
