Radon Awareness Campaign

April 30, 2004
Southeastern Land and Environment is
pleased to announce the availability of resources to assist residents in
learning more about radon, how it affects the environment and our health,
and how to lower radon levels when needed.
Radon is the second leading cause of
lung cancer. It is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that is
harmlessly dispersed in outdoor air, but when trapped in buildings, can be
dangerous at elevated levels. Testing your home for elevated levels of
radon is easy, and test results are confidential. If elevated levels of
radon are discovered, they can easily and inexpensively be lowered.
During this Radon Awareness
Campaign, Southeastern Land and Environment is offering two radon
workshops and radon test kits.
The first workshop is a Public
Information Program to be held Thursday, May 20 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. This
workshop is designed for any and all concerned citizens interested in
finding out how to effectively deal with radon in their homes. Whether you
have tested your home already or not, this workshop will provide you with
valuable information about radon, how to test for it, and what to do if
you have elevated levels.
