Lamar Days Wool and Fiber Festival

Lamar’s very first fiber and wool
and fiber festival will take place May 15 at the Sand and Sage
fairgrounds. There will be fun for everyone. There will be many vendor
booths some are wool booths and some are not. Some of the vendors are DJ
Fiber, Table Rock llamas, Katei Bear and Friends Collection, Leadville
Ladies, Debby Rice air purifiers, Palance Farms, Makes Scents (candles
Body scents) home made soap.
There will be a demonstration on
rabbit showmanship, soap making, spinning, how to use a drop spindle, wet
and pin felting. There will be a ARBA rabbit show, fiber animal judging,
fleece judging, judging of items and skeins made from the wool, dress your
fiber animal and yourself in costume, how to pluck an angora rabbit and
turn its wool into yarn. There will be awards for all areas including the
best booth. The food booth is by Sherry Haugen from Center.
The day will start with the rabbit
show at 9:00 with Megan Archuleta doing a demonstration. Megan is also the
youth secretary for the rabbit show. The rabbit show is being put on by
the Tumbleweed Rabbit Fanciers and the angora show by the Colorado Angora
Club. Gina Archuleta is the show superintendent and Carol Owens the show
secretary.

336-2424. The judges are Jody Bean from Canon City for the rabbit show,
Travis Taylor fiber animal and fleece judging from Karval, Jeanetta Larson
the skeins and items made from wool.
There will also be a silent Auction
starting at 9:00 and ending at 3:00. This is also Lamar Days there will be
many things going on up town as will as a parade. So come and spend the
day in Lamar and have some Fun. If you’re interested in entering in any of
the judging or rabbit show there is a entry fee for each thing or animal
