Kiowa County 4-H Council MeetsApril 30, 2004 The Kiowa County 4-H Council met on April 19, 2004 at the extension office in Eads. The meeting was called to order at 7:06 pm by president Milly Spady, with the American Pledge and 4-H Pledge being said. The following people attended the meeting: Jace Roberson, Brandy Turcotte, Dally Lessenden, Jessica James, Vincent Koeller, Miranda, Lana, & Lauren Weber, Cassie Harris, P.J. Lessenden, Pam Turcott, Bruce & Brenda Fickenscher, Dawn James, Carol Spady, Gail Koeller and Bonnie Lessenden. The Minutes of the February 23rd Council meeting were read and approved. The Treasurer’s Report was approved. Jessica gave a report on the Exchange Trip. The members would be flying into DIA and some of the activities planned are going to the Flying W, Baca County for a hotdog roast and a tour of the drawings, and the Koshare Indians. This is planned for July. Milly gave a report on the District 6 Senate Meeting. She is the new District Treasurer. Milly also gave a report on the Livestock Judging. They have had 2 Livestock meets that they gave reasons for. The S.E.C.P.A. Meal was reported as a real nice time. Under New Business: It was approved to pay the Colorado 4-H Youth Fund $2.00 per member on last year’s enrollment with the clubs paying $1.00 of that. The County Horse Show will be June 5 with the Sheridan Lake Livewires club serving the concession stand that day. .

The Junior Rodeo will be June 19 & 20. The Prairie Queen Club will be serving the concession stand on Saturday the 19th and the Haswell Milemarkers Club will be serving the concession stand on Sunday the 20th with Gail volunteering some help from the Sheridan Lake Livewires Club on Sunday, if they need it. The Exhibit Day Division changes were accepted as follows: Science & Natural Resources – Vet Science, Entomology, Wildlife, Garden & Horticulture with a total of 9 projects. Outdoor Sports – Shooting Sports & Bicycle with a total of 8 projects. Miscellaneous – Rocketry, Welding & Leathercraft with a total of 7 projects. Woodworking with a total of 9 projects. Creative Arts – Ceramics, Crochet & Home Environment with a total of 13 projects. Global Citizenship Personal Development – Global Citizenship, Photography & Junior Leadership with a total of 7 projects. Cake Decorating with a total of 6 projects. Foods & Nutrition Specialty Foods – Foods-Units 1-4, Specialty Foods-Bread & Food Preservation with a total of 11 projects. Clothing with a total of 13 projects. Decorate Your Duds with a total of 13 projects. It was approved to change the Council Meeting from July 12 to July 19. It was approved to not provide Meal Cards at the State 4-H Conference. The meeting was adjourned at 8:20 p.m. Announcements are: May 1 & 2 - YHEC (Youth Hunter Education Challenge), Flagler. May 8 - Meat Quality Assurance, at Cheyenne Wells, 12:00 (fairgrounds). May 17 - 4-H Council– Eads, 7:00 p.m. June 1 - Market Hog & Lamb Project Weigh-Day (99 days to Fair). June 5 - Kiowa County 4-H Horse Show. June 7-9 - District 4-H Camp @ Red Mountain Youth Camp near Beulah. June 18-20 - Victor Family Camp. June 22-25 - State 4-H Conference – Fort Collins. June 19 & 20 - Junior Rodeo. June 28 - County Creative Cooks/Demonstration/Cake Deco. Contest
