East End Events

As some of you know and many of you do not, this week's news column is my last. Lana Weber, a freshman at Plainview will take on the responsibility of writing "the news" and I'm confident she'll do great. I still remember when Christy Hopkins used to write this column, four years ago. Time sure flies. I will be graduating the end of May and in August will head off to the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs to start college. My major is still undecided, but I'm looking forward to the future. I've had fun writing this column and am thankful to all who read and contribute to it. Thanks for everything!

The Sheridan Lake Bible Church hosted a very nice banquet for the Plainview High School seniors Sunday for lunch. We enjoyed a nice meal, beautiful decorations, and a presentation by Lamar Christian Church's youth band led by Nick Gonzales. Thanks to all the ladies who worked to prepare the food...everything was great.

Saturday evening, Susan Greenfield and Cora Coffman enjoyed dinner with Shelia and Jeff Brase in Cheyenne Wells. After dinner, they went to Cheyenne Wells high school's Prom Grand March to see Cora's granddaughter Kelli.

Carl and Freda Schmidt helped with Berggren's auction; and on Monday, they traveled to Garden City, Kansas, for appointments.

Mary Louise Huddleston, Verna Hallock, and Bernice Tuttle attended a meeting in La Junta pertaining to a proposed Medicare bill Thursday.

Friday, Gary and Bernice Tuttle traveled to Garden City, Kansas, for an appointment.

I'll end with one of my favorite quotes: "A ship in the harbor is safe, but that's not what ships were built for,"-anonymous.
