Nancy Derby Wins in Quilting Contest

Karen Krueger took her mother, Hazel Krueger to the Pueblo Convention Center to view the beautiful quilted wall hangings, quilts, and quilted garments. Their primary interest was to see Hazel’s daughter, Nancy Derby of Rifle, who was in the competition. There were 40 entries in the challenge "Color My World" so they were thrilled to see that Nancy had won the top prize with her 30" by 30" banner. Nancy won the "Quilt Judge’s Award" and the "Viewer Choice Award." The main event was "The Challenge" in which each quilter bought fabric in the five colors of the rainbow and then they could only use two other colored fabrics to create their design for their "Color My World" entry. Hazel, herself is a highly acclaimed quilter, so she is rightfully proud of the accomplishments of her daughter, Nancy.
