Fort William Bent Chapter DAR Holds Meeting

The regular meeting of the Ft William Bent Chapter of the DAR was held on March 13, 2004. The meeting was called to order by the Regent Paula Deen, with 10 members and 2 guests present. Bertha Ritter introduced the guests, Bill Carder and Randy Hays from RANCO, a trailer manufacturing company in Lamar. After the Invocation by Lavaun Remling, Betty June Walters led the Patriotic Exercises. A National Defense Message was read by Anita Bishop. Flag minute was given by Betty June Walters. Faye Barber had the reading of the Constitution.

After the meal Bertha Ritter had the program. Bill Carder was presented the award for Outstanding Community Service.

 

Bill Carder explained to the club how he and several volunteers from his company, RANCO, in Lamar, started me program of hot meals that are delivered to needy families in the area on Christmas. They were joined by the Jaycees Toys for Tots and became Toys for Tots, Food for Families. Randy Hays explained other ways the company has helped the community with things like the Skate Park and donating scrap metals for use in the schools shop class and assisting the youth with job skills.

The meeting continued with the minutes read and approved. Kathy Self gave the Treasurers report; it was decided to change the April 10th meeting to April 17th, since the 10th fell on Easter weekend. The Dues Committee of Anita Bishop, Kathy Self, and Joyce Powel plan to meet and have a report for club. Paula announced that any baby clothes to be sent for exhibit at State Conference needed to be to her in 10 days with a note including who made them, who wore them, or where they were from. It was decided that Anita Bishop would be the delegate for the National Conference and Susan Cochell would be the alternate.
