Join us on for a roast beef dinner and evening of
entertainment Friday, March 19, 2004 at the LCC Wellness Center in Lamar,
or on Saturday, March 20, 2004 at First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in
Burlington. Cost if $5 per person. The evening at both sites begins at
5:00 p.m. Dr. Ron Hanson, Ag Economics professor of the University of
Nebraska will share the real life experiences of farm families that he has
counseled during the past 20 years. Ron will point out several ideas on
"what to do and what not to do" to help family members better understand
and work with each other, especially in times of economic stress in the
agriculture community.
Dr. Hanson will also share ideas for communicating
effectively with family members when working together, inter-generational
families working together, business ownership succession for family farms
and the value of more personal time together for husband and wife.
Dr. Ron Hanson will also be speaking to youth (14-18
years) in an afternoon session on the 19th starting at 2:00 – 3:30 p.m. in
the large lecture hall at LCC (2:00 p.m. at First St. Paul’s Lutheran
Church in Burlington). Topics will include: communication with family and
others; your future in modern agriculture; working together as family; and
our next generation of agriculturalists. Youth who attend the afternoon
session will receive a ticket for the evening presentation and meal.
Registration by March 12 assures participants of a roast
beef dinner (walk-ins are welcome, but registrations are needed for meal
