"Fishing Roundtable" To Address Angler Issues
March 12, 2004
Anglers interested in getting a
jump-start on the 2004 fishing season are invited to attend an "angler
roundtable" Tuesday, March 16 from 7-9 pm at the Colorado Division of
Wildlife office at 4255 Sinton Road. "A lot of people have been asking
what the fishing will be like this year," said Doug Krieger of the DOW.
"This meeting will address that question as well as any other issues
anglers are interested in."
The DOW fishery biologists will
discuss the outlook for fishing in southeastern Colorado. Information on
fishing lakes and streams from north to south (Colorado Springs to
Trinidad), and west to east (Leadville to Lamar). Special consideration
will also be given to warm-water fishing in larger reservoirs in the
Arkansas River basin.
Topics include the impact of the
ongoing drought and projections on this years reservoir levels and stream
flows, trout stocking, the forecast for warm-water species such as
walleye, wipers, crappie and bass, and tips about where to find the best
fishing in 2004. Anglers are encouraged to bring questions they have about
fishing their favorite lakes and streams.
