Dog Obedience Training First Meeting March 20
By Edith Koeller
March 12, 2004
There have been some questions asked
about dog obedience training for persons and their dogs that are not
enrolled in the 4-H Dog Obedience project. This year training will be
available to everyone in the county, young and old alike that is
interested in teaching his or her dog basic leading techniques and overall
obedience. Training will follow guidelines in the 4-H Dog Obedience
manual, but only 4-H members will be required to fill in the worksheets.
The time it takes to train a dog is well worth the effort. A well-behaved
dog is almost always a welcome dog anywhere.
A planning meeting will be held at
the KA Hall in Sheridan Lake, Saturday, March 20, at 9:30 a.m., to discuss
training sessions over the next 4 months. No dogs need to be brought to
this first meeting. If there is enough interest from all parts of the
county, these sessions will be held in all areas. Teaching a dog traveling
manners and working in different locations away from home is a plus.
For additional information, or to
express interest in this experience but not being able to attend this
first meeting, please call Edith at 729-3568.
