County Sheriffs of Colorado Scholarship Applications due April 2March 12, 2004 Sheriff Frazee announced that County Sheriffs of Colorado, Inc. (CSOC), the state Sheriffs' Association, will award a $500.00 scholarship to a deserving Kiowa County student this spring. CSOC established a scholarship program in 1978. Since then, this effort has continued as a meaningful expression of the Sheriffs confidence in and respect for education and training. CSOC considers this an investment in the future and believes that our membership is helping to provide deserving students with an opportunity to make a positive contribution to society. According to the Sheriff, announcements and application packages have been mailed to all secondary schools and institutions of higher learning in the county. Applications are also available at the Kiowa County Sheriffs office, which is located at 1305 Goff Street in Eads. Sheriff Frazee explained that this is the twenty-sixth (26) year that County Sheriffs of Colorado has made such scholarships available. One scholarship will be awarded in each of thirty Colorado counties this year. Applications will be reviewed by a local citizens' committee appointed by Sheriff Frazee and a selection will be made on the basis of a criteria established by CSOC. This criteria includes ability, merit, character, sincerity and career purpose.
