Dr. Ron Hanson To Speak in Lamar March 19

Popular speaker Dr. Ron Hanson will be returning to Lamar on March 19. Dr. Hanson will speak at a dinner meeting on problems that occur when transferring ownership of a family business. Starting with a roast beef dinner at 5:30 p.m. at the Lamar Community College Wellness Center in Lamar, this will be an entertaining and educational evening. When Dr. Hanson last visited Lamar in spring 2003, response from the 200 people attending was very enthusiastic.

Farm families need to be creative when developing a plan for passing down the family farm. Dr. Hanson will identify and discuss business ownership succession issues that often confront farm families. The entire succession process can result in great emotional stress among the family members, especially if the farm has been in the family for several generations. Dr. Hanson shares a humorous and motivating message filled with "true to life" anecdotes to help families work through this process.

Registration is only $5 for the dinner and program. Registrations are due March 8 and can be mailed to CSU Cooperative Extension, 1001 S. Main, Lamar, CO 81052. Call the Lamar office at 336-7734 or call your local Extension office for more information.
