Applications Available for Zonta Club Scholarship

The Zonta Club of Prowers County has announced applications are available for its $1000 Open Scholarship. The application deadline is April 23, 2004. All women who plan to continue their education at any college or university are encouraged to apply.

Following are some of the requirements for the successful applicant: Be a female student from Prowers, Kiowa, Baca or Bent County; be a full time student working toward a degree which will advance the status of women; and have a grade point average of 3.00 or better.

Zonta is a worldwide service organization of executives in business and the professions working together to advance the status of women. Zonta International has more than 1,250 clubs in 67 countries and geographic areas. Since 1938, Zonta International has provided more than 5 million dollars for scholarships for women working toward advanced degrees in the aerospace industry. One current scholarship recipient is working on her Ph.D in earth and planetary science with research focused on discovering the chemical makeup of our solar system.
